Kenya : our favorite itinerary for a first-time trip

Between legendary savannahs, enchanting lakes, Maasai villages, and majestic peaks, Kenya offers travelers a full immersion into East Africa.
For a first-time trip, it’s essential to find the right balance between cultural discoveries, unforgettable safaris, and time to unwind.
Here’s the perfect 7-day itinerary to experience the very best of Kenya.

Day 1 — Arrival in Nairobi: First steps in Kenya

Welcome to Nairobi !

After arriving at the airport and completing the ETA (electronic visa to be requested online before traveling), you’ll be greeted by a French-speaking guide.

Optional visits if you have time:

  • The Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
  • The Giraffe Centre
  • The Utamaduni Craft Market

Days 2 & 3 — Safari in the heart of the Maasai Mara

After a briefing, head to the legendary Masai Mara Reserve, home to the Big Five and the Great Migration.

Enjoy two full days of safari, seeking out lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos in golden savannahs and breathtaking sunsets.

Day 4 — Lake Naivasha & walking safari on Crescent Island

On the agenda: a boat ride among the hippos and a walking safari on Crescent Island, where zebras, giraffes, and wildebeest roam freely, with no predators.

Days 5 & 6 — Amboseli & Kilimanjaro as a backdrop

Next, travel to Amboseli, known for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Enjoy a full day of safari, a picnic in the park, and amazing wildlife observation in scenic surroundings.

Day 7 — Return to Nairobi & end of the adventure

After one last breakfast at the lodge, head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch en route.

Transfer to the airport for your return flight… or extend your adventure on Kenya’s coast in Mombasa.
